Georgia Care Innovators President and CEO, Kathleen Benton, DrPH, was recently featured in the Spring 2026 issue of The Adelphean, in an article exploring the experiences that shaped her career and her vision for a more compassionate, community-centered approach to healthcare.
Titled “Changing the Future of Healthcare,” the article traces Kathleen’s passion for healthcare back to her childhood and the profound influence of her younger brother, Daniel, who lived with a rare disease and underwent more than 110 surgeries during his lifetime. Watching her family navigate a fragmented healthcare system helped shape Kathleen’s belief that people need more than excellent medical treatment—they need advocacy, continuity, compassion, and care that recognizes the whole person.
The article follows that calling through Kathleen’s early career as a clinical ethicist and into her work leading systemic change in Georgia. It highlights her efforts to bring the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to the state, including her work with the Georgia legislature, and her larger goal of advancing a healthcare model that better addresses both medical and social needs.
Ultimately, the profile captures something that continues to guide Kathleen and the work of Georgia Care Innovators today: the belief that healthcare can be more compassionate, more connected, and more responsive to the lives of the people it serves.
As Kathleen shares in the article, “The root of happiness is what we do for others.”
We’re proud to see Kathleen’s story—and her vision for changing the future of healthcare—shared with readers across the country.
