Helping Children Heal After Loss

A Weekend of Healing, Connection, and Hope

Camp Aloha is an annual overnight grief camp for children and teens ages 6–17 who have experienced the death of a loved one within the past 24 months. Held at the beautiful New Ebenezer Retreat Center in Rincon, Camp Aloha combines structured grief support with recreation, friendship, creativity, and fun.

Through age-appropriate activities, campers learn healthy ways to express feelings, honor the memory of loved ones, and build resilience while surrounded by peers who understand their experience.

For many children, Camp Aloha is the first time they realize: “I’m not the only one.”

What Happens at Camp?

Camp Aloha is thoughtfully designed to balance healing and fun.

Activities may include:

  • Small-group discussions
  • Creative arts and memory projects
  • Music and recreation
  • Team-building activities
  • Outdoor adventures
  • Remembrance ceremonies
  • Opportunities for reflection and sharing
  • Friendship and peer support

Our goal is not to take grief away. Our goal is to help children understand that grief is a natural expression of love—and that healing is possible.

Why Camp Aloha Matters

Research shows that children who receive appropriate grief support are often better equipped to process loss and navigate future challenges.

Camp Aloha provides children with:

  • A safe place to express emotions
  • Support from trained grief professionals and volunteers
  • Connections with peers experiencing similar losses
  • Tools for coping and resilience
  • Positive memories and meaningful experiences

Most importantly, children leave knowing they are not alone.

A Community Investment in Children

Camp Aloha exists because our community believes every child deserves support after loss. The camp is made possible through the generosity of donors, volunteers, community partners, and sponsors, including Southern Motors. Scholarships are available to ensure financial circumstances never prevent a child from participating.

As a nonprofit organization, Georgia Care Innovators is proud to offer programs like Camp Aloha that address needs often overlooked by traditional healthcare systems.
