Resources for Veterans and Caregivers

Hospice Savannah is committed to connecting veterans and their families with valuable resources and support services.

A Promise to Those Who Served

At Hospice Savannah, honoring veterans is about more than recognition. It is about listening to their stories, acknowledging their sacrifices, supporting their families, and ensuring they receive the compassionate care they have earned through a lifetime of service.

More Than a Thank You

For many veterans, military service shaped a lifetime.

The experiences, sacrifices, friendships, and losses that occurred during service often remain deeply meaningful—and sometimes deeply painful. As veterans approach the end of life, memories of combat, military service, or traumatic events may become more present.

Some veterans live with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), survivor guilt, unresolved grief, or moral injury resulting from experiences they witnessed or endured during their service. Others may be reluctant to discuss pain, fear, or emotional concerns because of deeply held values of strength, self-reliance, and duty.

At Hospice Savannah, we recognize that veterans often have unique physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological needs. That’s why we provide specialized education for our staff and volunteers, helping them better understand the veteran experience and provide care that is informed, compassionate, and respectful.

Honoring veterans is about more than saying thank you. It is about listening to their stories, acknowledging their sacrifices, supporting their families, and helping them find comfort, meaning, and peace.
